Personal Statement
I am a self-employed management consultant, specialising in assessment and analysis, training, coaching, mentoring and action learning. MBA, FCIPD and FCMI, with an Advanced Diploma in Professional Coach – Mentoring, NVQs in assessment and internal verification. Particular skills knowledge and experience in the areas of finance, information and human resources. Skilled in analysing complex organisational problems and seeing to their resolution.Experience of strategic management including national representation and negotiation, having worked at top team level in public sector organisations for over a decade, Currently mentoring and providing action learning to a number of senior managers, teaching on CIPD Advanced Certificate in Professional Coach-Mentoring courses, and assessing and advising CIPD Professional Assessment candidates.  I am an Assessor for the EMCC professional standards scheme for coaching courses: this measures them against set criteria, and thus provides reassurance for purchasers.As a coach, he works to help leaders to discover solutions to their problems and learn from the process.

  • Worked for three organisations at Deputy Chief Probation Officer level, overseeing a variety of functions, including operations, finance, HR, Information and Facilities.
  • Led change programmes resulting in organisational renewal, once in response to the challenge of computerisation, managing consequent operational, workforce and facilities changes, and once in response to merger.
  • Lead on Finance for the Association of Chief Officers of Probation: including briefing Chief Officers, negotiation with Home Office, running conferences.
  • Facilitation and dispute resolution for CAFCASS and for Crime Concern

Recent projects include:-
  • Coaching on NHS Breakthrough programme, a development programme for Black and Minority Ethnic managers that equips candidates to compete for Board level posts, where they are underrepresented
  • Work as faculty coach mentor to candidates on the CIPD advanced coaching and mentoring certificate programme
  • Action learning for Assistant Chief Officers for the National Probation Service
  • Work with Norwich Union leaders on a programme to integrate coaching perspectives into their day-to-day management
  • Work with CCL with senior managers, who are applying  for CIPD membership, via the PAC route – includes supervision of the production of a 10,000 word management report, and assessing their  HR skills against CIPD Professional Development Standards
