ILM Level 2 Award in Mentoring for Young Learners

Are you looking for:

  • an accredited peer mentoring programme for students aged 14 or over
  • looking to develop your own skills to work as a Mentor with Young People or
  • looking to provide CPD and further enhance the skills of your teaching or support staff

Whatever your reason the ILM Level 2 Award in Mentoring for Young Learners is a versatile programme that will develop the skills to enable individuals to develop successful relationships with Young People to produce extraordinary results in their lives.

Delegates would generally, but not exclusively, come from the Education, Youth and Charitable Sectors.  However an individual volunteering to mentor young people with the Prince’s Trust and other similar organisations may also be interested in this programme.

At Intuition we ensure that we deliver the programme with the appropriate context in mind, so for example if we are working with a group of young people developing the skills to operate as Peer Mentors we will ensure that they understand their responsibilities within this relationship.

Equally if we are working with a group of adults developing the skills to work as Adult Mentors we will ensure that they fully understand their responsibilities and the further legal aspects of the relationship.

We believe you cannot leave anything to chance, our Young People are too important to fail them!

This programme is made up of two mandatory units which equips participants with the skills and knowledge to undertake effective supervised mentoring to aid their own personal development.

  1. Unit 1 – Developing effective listening and questioning skills – Enables participants to explore the role of an effective mentor and the behaviours/characteristics appropriate for mentoring including the practical barriers.  It also highlights the importance of planning and setting outcomes for the mentoring sessions.
  2. Unit 2 – Undertaking supervised mentoring – Enables participants to plan, undertake and review six, 30 minute mentoring sessions with supervision and support.

This Level 2 programme is equivalent to study at GCSE Level standard Grades A* – C.  The Award will provide you with 4 credits.

What is the format and how long will it take?
