ILM Level 5 Diploma in Coaching and Mentoring

Are you a Manager, People Development and Support Specialist or Independent Consltant/Coach Mentor looking to:

If you are wanting to stand out from the rest of the crowd the ILM Level 5 Diploma in Coaching and Mentoring should be your starting point as it will provide you with the knowledge, skills and confidence to enable transformational change with individuals and teams.

This is a fully integrated professional development programme where you are supported to develop effective reflective practice to enhance your on-going professional development.  In addition you will receive effective Supervision support to allow you to reflect on critical incidents from your own coaching and mentoring practice.

Although not currently accredited through the EMCC European Individual Accreditation (EIA) route elements of this diploma programme will allow you to ‘tick the box’ if applying for the EMCC EIA at Practitioner Level.

The ILM programme itself is made up of three mandatory units which enables participants to understand, develop and demonstrate knowledge and skills in professional coaching and mentoring.

  1. Unit 1 – Understanding the skills, principles and practice of effective management coaching and mentoring – Enables participants to understand the contribution of coaching and mentoring to individuals and organisations and make a case for using Coaching or Mentoring in their organisation.
  2. Unit 2 – Reviewing own ability as a Management Coaching or Mentor – Participants review their own ability as a Management Coach or Mentor, exploring their ethical and moral views as well as the core communication skills.
  3. Unit 3 – Undertaking an Extended Period of Management Coaching or Mentoring in the WorkplaceIn this practical unit, participants will develop and improve their performance as Management Coaches or Mentors, taking around 100 hours to plan, organise and evaluate an extended period of coaching or mentoring.

This Level 5 programme is equivalent to study at Foundation Degree Level.  The Diploma will provide you with 37 credits.

What is the format and how long will it take?

The programme delivers 45 hours of Guided Learning Time.  Completion is typically over a twelve to eighteen month timeframe.  There is one route of study available.

  • Classroom Based Programme including supported Distance Learning Activities – A blended learning approach including 5 Classroom Days (1+2+2), distance learning activities, one-to-one coaching, observed coaching, assessment teleseminar.  All supported by your own dedicated Coach-Mentor with an extended period of Supervision.

Currently the ILM Level 5 Diploma for in Coaching and Mentoring is available In-house for a minimum of 6 delegates or as an Open Access Programme.   You will join an ILM Level 5 Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring programme to complete the Diploma as the extended period of practice is delivered on a one-to-one basis with your dedicated Coach-Mentor.
