ILM Level 3 Award in Workplace Coaching for Team Leaders and First Line Managers

The ILM Level 3 Award in Workplace Coaching for Team Leaders and First Line Managers provides practising and potential Team Leaders and First Line Managers with the knowledge skills and confidence to perform effectively as workplace coaches as part of their normal work role.

The programme is a concise qualification made up of three units which introduce the key aspects of coaching in the workplace.

  1. Understanding Good Practice in Workplace Coaching - The role of the workplace coaching is explored.  Here participants assess their own abiity to use a variety of interpersonal communication skills when giving effective feedback to learners.
  2. Organising Workplace Coaching - Participants look at the range and value of different learning resources to support the safe and effective coaching, alongside practical skills in how to monitor and record learner progress.
  3. Supervised Coaching in the Workplace - Participants plan and organise workplace coaching sessions, undertake coaching and then monitor/review their own workplace coaching performance.

What is the format and how long will it take?

The programme requires 24 hours of Guided Learning Time.  Completion is typically over a four to six month timeframe.  There are two routes of study available:

  • Distance Learning - self directed learning supported by your own experienced Coach-Mentor.
  • Classroom Based programme - includes 3 Classroom Days, distance learning activities and supported by your own experienced Coach-Mentor.

Currently the Classroom Based Programme is only available as an In-house programme for a minimum of 6 delegates.
